Artificial Intelligence and Automated Decision-Making in Judicial Practice

As part of the European JuLIA project ("Justice, Fundamental Rights and Artificial Intelligence") we invite you to join our  interactive workshop (Justice Lab) that aims to foster dialogue between justice professionals, researchers, and experts, including those from non-legal sectors.

The Justice Laboratory on Artificial Intelligence and Automated Decision-Making in Judicial Practice, organised by the University of Coimbra and the CEJ – Centre for Judicial Studies, within the framework of the JuLIA Project, will take place online. The event aims to explore the use of artificial intelligence in judicial decision-making and to foster a debate on some of the most critical issues concerning jurisdiction and the rule of law.

In particular, the Justice Laboratory will offer an overview of the European regulatory framework and will address the risks, challenges, and legitimacy of using such tools, with special attention to the safeguards of fundamental rights.

The Workshop will take place on January 12th, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM in a virtual format and the event will be held entirely in Portuguese.
