The impact of AI from the perspective of the fundamental right to health and management of health crises
On May 16 and 17, the University of Coimbra (UC) will host the event “Artificial Intelligence and Crisis Management in Health: The Pandemic Experience” at the Colégio da Trindade. The event will gather national and international law experts, including judges, prosecutors, and representatives from the European Commission, alongside computer engineers, CEOs, and university professors. Around 30 judges from various European countries will participate in lectures and workshops. The event will explore AI’s potential and risks in healthcare, such as improved disease management versus decision-making opacity and privacy concerns. It aims to influence judicial perspectives on AI in public administration and define challenges AI poses to fundamental rights. This initiative is part of the JuLIA research project, analyzing AI's impact on fundamental rights in judicial and healthcare settings, led by Pompeu Fabra University and coordinated in Portugal by UC.
