The use of ADM in digital markets is growing in importance and affecting market dynamics, transaction design and consumer´s welfare.
The TTE that will take place at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona will focus on:
- Studying the role of ADM in personalizing consumer transactions in digital markets.
- Providing guidance to judges on adjudicating cases on assessing how machine learning may contribute to sorting, profiling and classifying cases and aid justice systems in reacting to massive litigation particularly in standardized cases such as consumer cases. In this respect the use of algorithms may enhance provision of effective judicial remedy in the meaning of Article 47 CFR
- Analyzing the role of ADM in horizontal relationships and the effectiveness of fundamental rights
- Providing an analytical framework for judicial oversight and control in cases where empirical evidence may suggest that algorithm behavior might result in practices ranging from discrimination to collusion jeopardizing the proper, smooth and fair functioning of the market.
